I believe this is a difference between IFR and VFR flight in Italy that is not currently represented in the Italian SkyDemon chart. Our charts correctly represent the airspace as defined in the Italian AIP, however for VFR flight there are many exception sectors into which the class A is divided. We really should depict these sectors but at the moment we are waiting for the coordinates defining them to be provided by the Italian authorities. The only way in which they are currently defined is on a graphical map, which is not data we can use directly.

We are looking into this. I will check in the AIP and come back to you here.

Hallo everybody,

I'm new to SD and am planning a trip from Eastern France to Milan, ITALY.

I really love the graphic interface of your software and how clearly information is depicted.

However, I realize that some information about Northern Italy's class A airspace could be incorrect.

This huge class A around Milan and Turin is very complex and divided into several sectors each having different vertical limits. SD seems not to take this into consideration and shows one BIG class A airspace limited between 2500 ft ( 1500 AGL) and FL 195.

As an example, the actual Class A airspace just East of AOSTA (LIMW) is simply limited between FL 175 and FL 195, but SD shows it limited between 2500 ft ( 1500 AGL) and FL 195.

Another example: the class A over lake Maggiore (the lake west of Lugano - LSZA and north of Malpensa - LIMC) is limited between FL95 and FL 195.

How do you explain these discrepancies?

Thanks and regards

Andrea
