Hello friends in the sky,

I was exploring the custom data functionality and have successfully defined airspaces.
Then I also wanted to make some custom unpublished patterns (as suggested in this thread), but when i have a routes file in the custom data editor the "new" button does not do anything.

All other custom data types seem to work and the "new" button brings up the editor
I also checked the files, the "Patterns.airways" file is empty.

SkyDemon Plan version 3.16.9.0 running on Windows 10.

Am I missing something obvious here or is this a bug?

Thanks very much

I'm facing the same issue on SkyDemon 3.16.9 running on Windows 11.

I don't think our data creator tool supports a user interface for creating routes, sorry.

Alright thank you for the clarification.

Is there any chance we can get some sort of documentation on the file format? I would at least try to hand craft if I had an idea what the format looked like.

It did support so in the past. I have made a number of custom routes before, but I can't add any new routes anymore in the latest version of SkyDemon.

We changed the format and no longer had an internal need for a tool to visually create them.

What sort of routes are you looking to create?

I understand.
For your info, I use SkyDemon in an area not covered. I manually added airspace, including VFR and IFR routes using the custom data tool

As gar als I understood, custom Data are for us, the users. It is a feature of SkyDemon and I would like to use it. As mentioned above, if the editor is not working any more, at least the file format should be published

I also used this feature in the past, and am disappointed to see it gone. It was convenient to be able to "draw" onto the chart for common navigational tasks. These were things I'd plan once and have on the chart indefinitely in the future to save redoing it again on future flights.

The file format seems straightforward though, looking at what I already have from older versions. It looks like this:

[Name of route|Notes with spaces]
N123456.78 W00123456.78,2000,3000,1,VFR,U
N123456.78 W00123456.78,2000,3000,1,VFR,U
... (more lines for more legs)
N123456.78 W00123456.78
[Name of another route|its notes]
N123456.78 W00123456.78,2000,3000,1,VFR,U
N123456.78 W00123456.78,2000,3000,1,VFR,U
... (more lines for more legs)
N123456.78 W00123456.78

The final point on each route doesn't specify any properties for the subsequent leg, of course. It's a text file formatted with Windows line endings. I don't remember what the 1,VFR,U means above. Those are the settings I used previously. I'd appreciate if you could fill us in, please!

The editor previously didn't let you do this visually; you had to enter in lat/lon manually - essentially the same information as above.

Thanks for posting that, rclb.

1 is the width of the route, this is not actually used in SkyDemon, so just use 1
VFR is the type of route, SkyDemon currently supports VFR or HEL depending on what kind of route you want to create
U is the directionality of the route, and for custom data you should always use U
