I'm sure we had this discussion before when SD changed the Manchester LLR to shaded and the users persuaded SD that while not technically correct the depiction of the LLR as clear was much better for actual navigation within the busy corridor - cant help feeling reverting to shaded again is a backward step and does nothing to aid vfr navigation within the LLR?

We agree with the sentiment, but after extensive discussions involving the CAA, we agreed to depict it as shaded to emphasize the fact that it's class D airspace. The new CAA printed chart has gone the same way.

I see the new CAA chart at least has a different shade of shading - maybe a possible consideration (although it should have been lighter not darker)? CAA again seeming to put strict interpretation of 'correctness' above clear and easily used practicality.. we shouldn't be surprised I guess! It's like they are trying to keep their infringement department in business!
