With the current COVID-19 situation many airfields, certainly in the UK, are deactivating their CTAs and/ or CTRs overnight. For some aerodromes such as Birmingham and Southend this is shown on the mobile app by green boundaries:

In others, such as Manchester the screen shading is not displayed :

Here are the two NOTAMS for comparison :

Q) EGTT/QAECD/IV/NBO /AE /000/095/5225N00152W
A) EGBB
B) 20/04/30 23:00 C) 20/06/30 06:59
D) 2300-0659
E) BIRMINGHAM CLASS D CTR AND CTA ARE DISESTABLISHED AND REVERT TO CLASS G AIRSPACE. PILOTS ARE RECOMMENDED TO MAKE BLIND TRANSMISSIONS WHEN ENTERING AND LEAVING THE LATERAL CONFINES OF THE CTR/CTA.

Q) EGTT/QAECD/IV/NBO /AE /000/035/5324N00225W
A) EGCC
B) 20/04/29 20:15 C) 20/05/31 05:45
D) 2015-0545
E) COVID-19 INFORMATION. MANCHESTER ATS NOT AVBL BETWEEN 2015-0545. MANCHESTER CONTROLLED AIRSPACE CTR AND CTA 1-5 REVERTS TO CLASS G DURING THESE PERIODS OF CLOSURE. SUITABLY EQUIPPED AIRCRAFT OPERATING WITHIN MANCHESTER AIRSPACE DURING THESE PERIODS SHOULD MONITOR MANCHESTER RADAR ON 118.580 MHZ AND SQUAWK 7360 (ANY DISCREET TASK SPECIFIC CODE OR ANY DISCREET CODE ALLOCATED BY ANOTHER ATC UNIT). AIRCRAFT LANDING INSIDE MANCHESTER AIRSPACE SHALL CONTACT MANCHESTER ATC ON 0161 2092836 IF INTENDING TO DEPART DURING PUBLISHED OPENING HOURS.

Both would seem to be the same NOTAM type etc ? I wonder why Birmingham shows the green edging but Manchester does not please.

From eyeballing the NOTAM, it appears it has been lazily published such that its radius covers the entire FIR. SkyDemon does not display such NOTAM on the map, which means you don't get the coloured outlines.

It's worth remembering that while we are often able to do very clever things with NOTAM, when they are published to a certain standard, it's also the case that NOTAMs are an imperfect system and what we can display on the map varies, whereas the NOTAM briefing itself is always authoritative.

Thank you Tim for explaining. I can see that it’s now edged in green so guess the NOTAM was amended or some manual intervention has taken place at SD’s end - Thank you if so :-)

Nothing from us - I guess they published their NOTAM better!
