Am using latest version of Norton which automatically removes .msi file for SD from my PC. Seems no way of manually overriding.

Will use another PC and copy for now. But its to do with security rating of such files from SD. Has not happened before. Here is text of Norton description:

I have managed a workaround with Nortons "chat" assistance. I have also submitted a "false postive" notification to Norton. No idea if this will work.

Anyone who needs workaround help, send a PM.

We resigned and republished the 2.1.1 package this morning, has this helped?

Sorry  .. can't say. In Madrid till Thursday. Will remove Norton setting and retry when I get back.

Hi Tim/Sky demon team.

I have just attempted to download the 30 day free trial (21:15 Fri 13, May) and get exactly the same message from Norton. I'm not incredibly computer literate and so have no idea how to get past this.

I'll try and get in touch with someone who can help. Just thought you should be aware.

You can get around this by changing the Norton settings so that a specified folder (to which you download the latest version) is not virus checked. It does mean you need to trust the given source and my advice is to use such a folder just for Skydemon downloads.

Exactly how to do this will depend on your Norton version and your operating system.

My suggestion is to go to the support section on the Norton/Symantec website and open a LIVECHAT support session. You will even be offered a means whereby the support technician takes control of your PC and changes the settings for you. Whether you allow this is your decision.

Anyway, it should solve it for you.

ESET NOD32 is the best performing AV suite, alternatively, the free Microsoft Security Essentials is very good.



Norton is a serious resource hog, and it's also very intrusive as you're seeing here.
