Is it possible to detect the block times (engine on and off) based on input from the smartphone microphone?

As the noise difference is quite enormous, it could be easily distinguished...

Block times are different from engine times.

We do not currently plan on using the microphone to detect engine start and stop. We have a big red button for this at the moment.
