Dear Team,

is there any solution to stop the iPad from overheating?‌ I'm using the current version.
If not, please make sure that all devices can recover log data after overheating or store at least the log data until it happened. May with a autosave function every 30-60 seconds?

Kind regards,

‌Sam‌

What model of iPad is this? Generally the iPad over heating issues were solved by Apple a long time ago.

Hi SemperFi,
I‘m flying a Robin DR400-160.
I use it with my kneeboard. Sometimes there is direct sunlight but just for a couple of minutes.
Greetings

I have not heard of overheating iPads, excluding users of Jeppesen MGDVFR with its known excessive power consumption, for a very long time. What aircraft are you flying and where do you put the iPad, direct sunlight?

I get this quite often... We have lots of sun in Denmark these days - just this weekend on a short trip.. The ipad on my knee overheated.. Had to pull power, put it in the shade for a few minutes and turn it back on again.. IPad pro (small one) I have now..

M‌y previous Ipad air 2 and Ipad mini did it as well.. Happens more often with power connected - but also without power.. In very good weather - it can easily happen. Everyone I know has this problem - and always has their phone with SkyDemon on standby in their poclet :-) Me too :-)

I‌ would live this data recovery feature - so I can get a better view of the full trip and not segments of it..‌

My iPad 4 mini suffered from overheating as well.

I switched off automatic brightness control and set brightness manually to appr. 75 %.

The iPad stays cool now and I can fly at least 4 hours without external power! :-)

The SD software itself seems to be very economic with energy.
