I am running skydemon mobile on a Mio p360. If I try to select instrument view when the screen is in portrait format, there is an immediate crash to the desktop. If I am in landscape mode, all is fine. I understand it is probably device-specific, but it happens consistently (I am using the new official v2.1. I don't remember it happening with beta 2.1).

Hi,

I've got a similar scenario using an O2 Orbit XDA (Windows Mobile 6 pro) and SD 2.1. but with a strange combination of when it works & when it doesn't.

With no satellite fix (even with GPS started) I can have whatever I want, chart or instrument view in portrait or landscape.

Once there is a firm GPS fix then I can get all combinations except instrument view in portrait. As soon as this option is selected either by using the rotate screen option from landscape/instrument view or swapping from chart to instrument view in portrait it briefly starts to show the instrument view but crashes after a second or so without ever showing the full instrument view.

Hopefully a debug.zip is attached to this post that might help track down what's going on or email me at bj@f2s.com if you need any more info.

I haven't yet loaded the latest release onto my Mio 505 but should get chance in the next day or so and will advise how things go.

Cheers BJ

I, too, experienced a similar problem today. Flying over the Channel to Alderney, I selected the "Instrument Panel" and the program immediately crashed out to the desktop. I'm running SkyDemon 2.1 on a Loox 620 and I never had any problems with version 2.0 on the same device. Even worse, I couldn't get the program to reload, so I took it off the SD card, and then did a clean install. Now, it won't even load up properly at all, claiming that there is an "OutOfMemory" exception when it tries to load a Trees file, or a Rivers file etc.

Could we please have access to version 2.0 again so that I can at least go flying with the program?

Many thanks

There is a possibility that your program crash is related to the experience I had over w/e. On crossing channel (and so auto-loading French chart), program crashed with no intervention from me. happened both ways.

Does SkyDemon Mobile 2.1 require 128 MB RAM to function properly? When I reloaded the program I noted that the Plan program said that there was only 64 MB on the Loox, and did I wish to continue. I haven't found any notice on the site that specifies that the device must have 128 MB to work correctly. Perhaps the SkyDemon team could enlighten me on the subject?

We have always suggested that 128mb of RAM is necessary to run SkyDemon Mobile. You might get away with less, but being able to simultaneously load charts for multiple countries at once is entirely memory-dependent.

There's more then one thing going on here. My Loox running 2.1 crashes immediately when instrument view is selected and there's a GPS fix. Doesn't crash with no fix. Nothing do to with loading charts and/or lack of memory.

Can someone who can reliably reproduce these errors contact us directly by email so we can send a hotfix build and verify that the fix works?

Hi guys,

I've had exactly the same problem on my Dell X51v (Win Mobile 5).  The instrument view works fine in landscape, but not in portrait i.e. it crashes back to the home screen if I try and switch to instrument view in portrait.  However, I can switch to instrument view in portrait when I do NOT have a GPS fix.  I uploaded a dump file in an earlier post.

Also, does SkyDemon update the software on the mobile device now when you do a Sync after installing a new version on the PC?

Whoops, sorry, I've just had a look at the version history and seen this has been fixed in the latest version.  Thanks Tim Smile
