Hi

I'm off to Las Vegas tomorrow for a few days and I've discovered a possible problem - but it's one that I won't really be able to prove until I get there.

SkyDemon Plan shows all the terrain correctly, but the maps on the device are completely flat.

If I manually set the position on the device to a UK location, you can see the terrain shading. If I then jump to a US location, there is none.

Does this mean the terrain view won't work? Obviously I can't actually test this until Friday.

Have I missed something obvious?

Cheers,

Steve

Not sure. However, when you load a chart for first time and fire up in mobile it takes quite a long time to cache all the terrain tiles so that terrain displays properly. Suspect this is a function of memory and processor speed  .. no problem on PC in this repsect but gigs of memory and fast chip.

Suggest you try being patient - even leave on overnight.

PS Cd be something else entirely though!!

When you synced your device with Plan, did Plan copy all the terrain tiles on to the device? You should see them as 56mb (approx) files ending in .DEM and starting (in the USA) with the letter E.

Hi

Yep, the .DEM files were there.

Alas, I never got to try it because like a muppet, I forgot my charger cable and the unit must have accidentally been switched on in transit and was dead when I got there. Unfortunately, my GPS uses a non-standard charger connector and can't be charged via USB so there was no way to top it up.

The aircraft had a Garmin 430 so I didn't get lost at least!
