Ever since upgrading to iOS 10 I have issues losing my location data (Waiting for Location Data) in Skydemon during flights, sometimes it works for a couple of minutes but not stable anymore like with iOS 9.x. I am in contact with at least 4 other members of our flying club wo are experiencing the same behaviour. It’s really strange, sometimes having location data for e.g. 30 minutes but sometimes you are not able to keep location data for 5 seconds. Of course during the whole time the GLO keeps fix and the bluetooth connection stays active!
The equipment we are using is: - iPad mini (2) with iOS 10.0.2 - Garmin GLO with with latest firmware 2.80 (also 2.70 was tested) - Skydemon version 3.6.5.51
Extra info, one of the other guys already downgraded his iOS back to latest iOS 9 to see if stability returns.
Any other people having the same stability issues?
Regards
Rob

Some additional information: it looks like if you switch to another GPS enabled application on the iPad when Skydemon is in the status Waiting for Location data that the other application is able to acquire location data without a problem.

Also emailed Garmin regarding this and received the following response.... Hello,
Unfortunately, there is a problem with the iOS 10 update that is causing the GLO to to stop receiving your GPS location. Our development team is working on a fix that should be available soon. We apologize for this inconvenience.
Best Regards,

I had the same problem today. I updated to iOS10 yesterday. Exactly the same set up as you (iPad mini 2 etc). Flew today and sometimes it went 30 minutes before disconnecting from the Garmin Glo GPS, sometimes only a few minutes. In two flights of 1.5 hours each, it must have disconnected about ten times. Had to turn off the Garmin Glo, turn it on again and re-connect. Very annoying!

Hi all, Just to add to the above I also am having the same problem, frustrating as I've just started to use it all in anger. Garmin Glo, IPad Air 2 WiFi, iOS 10.0.2 plus the latest SkyDemon App. Here's the response I got from Garmin
Thank you for contacting Garmin International.I'm sorry you have been experiencing issues with tho GLO lately. The problem has been identified and the issue is the latest iOS updates (10.0 and above).Ever since Apple released 10.0, the GLO has not been working and compatible with those updated devices. We are working with Apple to try to fix this problem as soon as we can. We really apologize for the inconvenience.
Not sure if we'll see a fix to iOS (good luck?) or maybe Garmin could do something with the firmware on the Glo, if I hear anything will update, would appreciate it anyone hears anything to post it here.
Cheers

Regards Rob Hi, unfortunately, I do have exactly the same issue. i'm concern that Garmin will make a fix that in a reasonable timeframe. anyway i will contact them too in order to "chase them" toward a fix. on the bottom line, when use for flying, i will never upgrade anymore IOS versions on a IPAD...it's always a mess. cheers

I contacted Garmin and they suggested updating the software on the GLO to 2.8 (I've already done that) and try disconnecting the iPad from the GLO and reconnecting (already done that). I also tried resetting network settings. None of this has worked. Garmin said that no-one else had contacted them about this issue, but they would contact their USA development team if it persists. I replied and said it was persisting and had been raised on forums.

It may be a plan to post the email you received with their email, I will then email them quoting your communication to try and put some pressure on, what do you think?
