New password when renewing subscription

You don't have to be logged in to purchase a brand new subscription. Logging in does not affect that whatsoever. And if you purchase a brand new subscription, you get a brand new password.

you're right, I went to the website, then to "Manage your subscription", then I logged myself in, then I went "Online Store" and bought another month. I didn't use the link from the e-mail.

However, even by going this way, I don't see the point of sending out a new password. If a user has logged on to the website before the purchase, it's quite obvious the he still knows his credentials.

What you are saying is not true. The reason you were sent a new password is because you purchased a new monthly subscription. If you go to the Renewal page instead, and renew your existing subscription, you will not end up with a new password generated.

The email we send you to remind you about renewal does contain a link to the renewal page.

I use SkyDemon from time to time on a monthly subscription. I do not use automatic renewals. Between my renewals, theres usually some weeks, since I only buy SkyDemon for bigger trips.

Every time I do a renewal, I get a new password via e-mail. That sucks, because I have to change it on 4 devices (2 PCs, iPad, iPhone). If the account already exists, as it does in my case, there shouldnt be a new password set automatically.
