Hi,

Currently I have SD installed on a Samsung S4mini and a T800 10.5" Tablet. Evidently, the phone is too small and the tablet is too big to carry it comfortably in the plane. So I am thinking about getting a dedicated 7-8" tablet to use with SD. Is there anything you could recommend? I see from the newsletter that you speak about cheap x86 tablet computers. Is there any one in particular that could be recommended?

Regards

Berthold

In the office we like the Tesco Hudl 2, which is around the size you were talking about.

Thanks Tim! They look perfect .
A little difficult and more expensive to get those outside UK, but I'll be at CAE Oxford in August and will definitely pick up one while there!

Sorry to popup this thread, but for your information I bought a LENOVO TAB 2 A10-7 which is hardly discounted in France this month (50€). It's a 7" low res (1024x767), portrait format : http://shop.lenovo.com/gb/en/tablets/lenovo/a-series/tab-2-a7-10/

I don't have any interest in this brand (LENOVO) nor Apple : my primary tablet is an iPad Mini (Generation 2, Retina). I choose a cheapest Android tablet as a backup solution.

Obviously performance and confort are not the same when comparing iPad Mini (>300$) and Lenovo Tab 2 (<70$) ;-) Here is a quick video I've made on board :

Thanks a million for your post and video, I find the information very helpful and it may save me a few Euro. Will post my feedback after I have tested the Lenovo Yogo 2 8"

I have a Nexus7 (first gen) that I use as my main SD tablet with an external Bluetooth GPS. My friends have Nexus7 (second gen) and recently a Lenovo Yoga 2 8". I installed and configured their tablets and installed their SD. This last tablet is very fast with the new Intel processor, run SD nicely and has 18 hours of battery life. He paid 146€ (exlcusive of VAT for a company). Very good value for a very good tablet. When my Nexus7 retires, I will look hard at the Lenovo 8" as well. The sound is excellent too with two front speakers.

I've found the Tesco Hudl 2 quite bright enough for use over the summer, but unfortunately Tesco have discontinued it.
