I hope someone can advise on this.

I have only used SD when doing a few circuits so haven't had a chance to give it good go yet.

Is there a way to get the notams, if you don't want to fly a planned route? If I just wanted to flying around North Wales, Cheshire, Shropshire ( not aimlessly) but not on a strict route, how do I get the notams transferred onto my mobile device? I had thought of planning a local route to gets the notams and then transferring it to the device, but do I have to actually 'open' the route on the device for the notams to be identified or will the fact that I have synced be enough for the device to see them?

Thanks

p.s. Regardless of where I fly I always check the Notams/weather and royal flights regardless of whether or not they are on any device.

I think this will work:

  1. Plan a circular route that takes in the area for which you might want NOTAMs, Tafs etc. This can be done on your mobile device if it has wifi or other web access. Otherwise via PC version.
  2. Ensure briefing info is downloaded.
  3. Save the route.
  4. Sync with mobile device in normal way.
  5. Load route on mobile device.
  6. NOTAMs shd be visible.
  7. Then go to route and select new on mobile device. Route will disappear but do not actually enter a new route. Go "back" to map.
  8. NOTAMs shd be visible still. BUT I suspect if you go "briefings" there will be nothing there as no route is loaded (but file is on the SD card).

See if it works and report back so we all get to know.

Thanks for that pink leader, hoping to fly at the end of the week, so I'll give it a try

NOTAMs in SkyDemon are grouped by FIR, so as long as you plan a route somewhere in the London FIR then sync to your device, your device will have every NOTAM applicable in that FIR. The narrow route briefing, whether produced in Plan or on the device, will then be able to deliver all applicable NOTAM to you.

SkyDemon doesn't currently have an aerodrome brief or an area brief with customisable radius. Not all NOTAM are drawn on the map, so the only way to get a comprehensive brief is to either switch the NOTAM filter to "all" (in Plan) or actually give the product a route from which it can give you a narrow route brief.

I live in Llanelli and fly from my local airfield Pembrey. When I plan flights on SD it always highlights the Pembrey and pedine dangers areas as active even when flying on weekends and with the weekend filter switched on. Pembrey and Pendine not active on weekends. Any ideas why this may occur or is it a problem with a particular notam? Great software.

The in-flight warning engine does not, at present, look at the activation times of danger areas and adjust its behaviour. It probably should, but I believe there were some issues around what constitutes a weekend and how that relates to different timezones. The last thing we want to do is fail to show an alert when we should, so we're still working on it.

Cheers!

Sorry, it is on the SD plan that it highlights the danger area is active. I have been unable to try the mobile version yet. Many thanks.

How does it highlight the areas? I assumed you were referring to an in-flight warning.
