Can SkyDemon activate a Flight Plan? If there is no ATC at the departure aerodrome and no person who can do this I'd like to know if it is possible to activate the plan oneself either on the SkyDemon iPad app or using the customer zone on the SkyDemon website where one can manage Flight Plans.

No, you must get ATC to do this. Any ATC unit should be able to do it for you, providing they have received a copy of the flightplan. You can add them as an additional addressee if necessary.

Yes, ATC (or ATS to be precise) does open and close your flight plan. Or does it work differently in the country where you are based?

You can ask FIS (Flight Information Service) to do that for you. It is their job and they oblige gladly. They are reachable via radio in the air. If landing at a non-towered airport I call AIS on the phone.

Apparently this does work differently in different countries. In Sweden it is without any doubt ATS and not AIS that opens and closes flight plans. E.g. to close a flight plan after landing at an airport without ATS, you phone the ACC.
