Thanks for that Tim

When are you planning to roll the Beta into production as a formal update?

We've had numerous reports that the new betas have definitely SOLVED the screen-timing-out and breadcrumbs-not-appearing issues.

I'm still experiencing the problem, but intermittently. On a flight last week Dunkeswell to Shobdon the outward leg worked perfectly, the return leg kept dropping out. Not mission-critical at the moment, but just very annoying.

As before, the giveaway that shows it is going to happen is that the orange trail doesn't appear. It is does, then all is well.

I've not loaded the Beta, but will stick with the current version for the time being

During my last flight my tablet repeatedly returned to lock screen. It wasnt a cradh and SD was still running but it wasnt keeping the device alive. I was unable to reproduce the the behaviour on the ground. The simulate function kept the device awake and prevented the lock screen.

Thanks Tim

I'm afraid I couldn't tell whether or not it is a crash or that the tablet decides to switch the screen off at regular intervals. But that is what it does from time to time.

Yesterday I did one journey and it worked perfectly well - the orange log followed my route and SD worked exactly as it always did. The return was different. Once the route was underway the orange trail wasn't showing and after 5 minutes the screen went blank. When I finished the journey I 'stopped navigating' and the log had recorded the whole route. So I am unclear as to whether this is an Android/Nexus 7/Sd problem. I'm not tech savvy enough, though, to dig too deeply into developer tools and will live with it pending the next updates

I have plenty of storage on the tablet and no other settings have been changed, as far as I'm aware. I am thinking of reinstalling SD on the tablet to see if that makes a difference. I will also hold off installing Lollipop as that can only make things worse, as far as I can see.

This is not a screen timing out issue. It's important to get the terminology right otherwise we risk confusion. What you're seeing is a crash.

Crashing in SkyDemon for Android (pre Lollipop) is relatively rare these days and the fact no software has changed on your device means it might be something else that has changed, configuration wise. Have you run our of disk space or has another setting changed somewhere? To properly investigate we'd need the crash log, but sadly that's difficult to obtain from Android devices (you have to install the Android debugging tools on a PC).

At this point you won't gain much from upgrading your older Nexus 7 to Lollipop, but you might have a lot to lose in terms of the general speed of your device and software stability.

Sorry a repost as it might have got confused with Android 5 issues

Over the past couple of weeks I've experienced some problems with SD 3.2.0.28307 on my Nexus 7 (2012) running Android 4.4.4

On my last 2 flights the tablet has returned to the home screen every few minutes uncommanded. The log trail wasn't appearing when navigating but on landing I found the logs were recorded.

SD has always been totally reliable before but something odd has happened lately although I have not upgraded SD or Android, so I'm not sure why anything would have changed. Any ideas?

I see the Nexus 7 2012 is about to receive Android 5.0.2. Should we continue to hold off moving from KitKat?
