I am guessing, but could El5cid be a US pilot referring to the Sectional Aeronautical Charts which are standard paper 1:500.000 charts for VFR flying in the US?
Skydemon doesn't use standard paper-based charts but uses vectored, electronic charts, which has many advantages (active, scaleable, text always presented head up and so on) and a few disadvantages (less detailed). It's all explained in the manual.
