Yes, I think this makes sense. If expends a lot of effort to input the custom data it has some significance to them and ought to be visible on the topmost layer. Approach plates should be underneath.

I now realise that the reason for my not knowing about the red x is that by the time you are close enough to a destination for the plate to come up, the x at the corner of the plate is already out of view! I suggest that this disconcerting behaviour could be avoided by making auto plates optional and the default to no!

No, it isn't possible to turn it off in general.

Hello. With reference to this thread I'm finding the automatic approach plates quite irritating because the B&W colouring is often swamped by sunlight and they are not much use (typically too cluttered) for actual navigation. I note the point about the red 'x' to cancel but is it possible to turn this feature off without deleting the plate?

But it would be nice to suppress the automatic overlay of approach plates. The Skydemon map is better than the Swedish AIP. The absolute best alternative would be able to "popup" the Jeppesen plate instead ;-)

I also noted that when the approach plate pops up, one can delete it from the current view by tapping the big red cross in the upper left corner. That solves it for me.

Thanks for the tip. The approach plate in question is the one for the Norwegian military/civilian airport ENKJ. It is not used for commercial traffic and I suspect that Avinor, which maintains the national AIP, does not include this airport in the regular update cycle.

You can delete the plate from your local cache, and SkyDemon will therefore no longer use it.

It shouldn't be the case that a plate is older than SkyDemon data, though, since both are updated every 28 days. Can you give us an idea which plates, please, so that we can investigate?

Is there any way suppress the automatic overlay of approach plates in navigation mode? Some of the plates are less up to date than the SkyDemon chart itself.
