Absolutely love SD on my new 7" Android tablet, and thanks to the SD team for all their hard work etc.
I am wondering if there is an option to remove the bar at the bottom of the screen (depicting a side view of the aircrafts flight path etc.)
Just to aid more screen space for the actual 'moving map' view.
And if not, is this something that can be done for future patches or mods?
Thanks.

You'd be disabling what is - quite possibly - the best feature of SkyDemon!

Have you thought about using your tablet in portrait mode instead. That way, the Virtual Radar will take up a much smaller percentage of the screen area.

You can turn it off in the moving map view (but not the planning view) from the Setup -> Instruments screen. However, as Steve says, the Virtual Radar is just as useful as the moving map and in fact far more helpful under many circumstances. It is one of the most important instruments.

Being based in Switzerland and doing a lot of flying in mountainous terrain, I personally don't find the virtual radar of great use, although I accept that it may be in some other environments, such as marginal VMC in the absence of high mountains and in climates such as that of the UK Laugh I turn it off. I also turn off terrain alerts because they pop up every few seconds. After all we are flying VFR in VMC and terrain avoidance is by looking out, not at one's iPAD, all the more so when surrounded by mountains. Furthermore the virtual radar doesn't appear to show the terrain directly under the flight path but possibly the highest terrain a few miles left and right. I confirm having flown clear of terrain along straight flight paths and at stable altitudes where the virtual would have had me killed repeatedly by CFIT!

Terrain warnings are off by default in SkyDemon.

You're correct about the virtual radar, it considers terrain either side for safely. You can reduce how far each side it looks from the planning and navigation options screens.

Thanks Tim, I've narrowed it down and it looks a lot better now.
