Hmm...it's true I didn't know. So, does that mean there is/will be a Skydemon App for the iPad?

I does not mean anything. Other than that I think it would not be that hard to port SkyDemon to iPhone/iPad.

I take it you are unaware of MonoTouch? (http://monotouch.net)

As I understand it SkyDemon is a .NET application (I had it running under mono, http://www.mono-project.com/)

I could imagine this being a Super Tool on the iPad platform as well, but...

- would have to be reprogrammed from scratch with only the tools Apple allows (iPhone SDK)

- it's a closed environment, so iPhone and iPad only

- would run the risk (as everyone else) to be rejected by Apple without reasons given

- if approved would need to share 30% of its revenue with Apple

I understand for all these reasons that it's not going to happen.

Unless the 1 million plus affluent buyers in the first few weeks of its availability in the US alone (of which I'd imagine a quite a few fly airplanes for fun) make you think different...

Okay, one can always hope.

Not a chance?

Why not? It seems perfect to me. Big screen, still thin and light for the confined space of the cockpit. Built in GPS (3G model) and even compass. Wifi and 3G (download weather and NOTAM). Great battery life (at least on paper) and powerful processor.

OK, I'm starting to sound like I work for Apple. I don't. It's a bit pricey. And it's not out yet. But still. Think about it.

Any tablet should run it just fine. Obviously the faster it is, and the greater the battery life, the better. If you can find one with a built-in GPS receiver that can be helpful. Screen readability in sunlight is the other concern.

Am using Parallel to run Skydemon. Works very well.

I would buy the iPad immediately if I could run Plan on it...

Tim, what tablets do you think would work well instead ? The iPad's quite cheap

Congratulations, this is really a great piece of software.

I would immediately buy a Mac version, if available.

Not a chance. We'll have a version of Plan that runs on netbooks with InFlight features before long, which will be a much better experience than would be available on an iPad.

SkyDemon on the iPad would be a "killer".

What about it Tim? Wink

P.S. I have it running on my MacBook using Wine, it kind of works with some issues I have yet to resolve.
