I am using a £65 Chinese satnav with Win CE6 and iGO8 on. With a 8G chip it loaded first time and can also run MemoryMap.

However I loaded the Beta version today and have lost the portrait view when rotate screen is actioned. The screen does rotate but I get landscape on half the screen only.

Is there a fix or should I revert to version 2.2.0

Thanks for the latest beta version, as usual, some great additions. I haven't had much of a look at 'plan' but I did notice (and I hope this is new because I dont remember seeing them before) that the VOR's are now very prominent which I like.

On to SD mobile.

Not flown yet, but have had a play with it.
Journey log and chart orientation changes are great, there is one strange thing that happens in 'course up' mode though (very minor) and it is the same on 2 devices,  I'm currently in Conwy and with a route set, there is a faint white line on the chart running from Deganwy through to Port Talbot, it's not a problem just peculiar.
Map feature, another great addition, but all other views apart from sky demon view are initially slow to draw and when scrolling accross the screen, there are blocks of chequered background visible, it does sort itself out though given time.

Excellent work, thanks again for releasing it

Thanks for releasing this guys - several of the items on my wish-list have been ticked off and seem good, although the real test will come when I fly with it (hopefully tomorrow). I especially like the weather triangles in Plan and the FAA-style chart being available on the GPS.

I did have some trouble installing 2.2.1(Beta) - as well as uninstalling SkyDemon from the control panel, I had to remove the SkyDemon folder in the USER directory, start SkyDemon once (got a "demo version expired" message) and then copy back the licence file, routes, logs etc. The first time I tried it (before removing the user directory) I just got the map appearing with a dialogue saying "SkyDemon.exe has stopped working. OK?"

Thanks again, and I'll try to send more feedback after flying tomorrow.

I have managed to track down what caused the problem - the userwaypoints.xml had somehow become corrupted. I can't determine whether this was a result of installing the beta version or not, however.

Cheers,

Mike.

Thanks all for the feedback.

AlanM, we've been playing with the screen rotation function a bit. We will restore it to how it was previously for the next beta.

nje, we haven't changed the way VORs are depicted I don't think. The faint white line has been used for the last few versions to denote the leg that you are currently navigating. It should appear on all three chart orientation modes. Terrain rendering is slow initially in all chart styles but the tiles are forever cached so it's a one-time cost.

T67M, this sounds very strange. We don't really have any control over the installation process, we just use a standard Windows installer package. Without having any error messages from your attempt before you manually deleted the folder, we can't really be of much help (and all we'd be doing is Googling the messages anyway).

Sorry but I cannot find where this is already covered, how do you install a Beta version? When I download the .msi file and try to install, I get "this program is already installed"

From our beta downloads page:

You will need to manually uninstall any other version of SkyDemon, from your Control Panel, before installing this one.

Thanks - looking forward to trying the different charts, especially to see if the FAA colour scheme is more readable

Thanks for the replies Tim, sadly the wind was a bit choppy today so my planned flight has been put off, I look forward to getting into the air to use the beta version very soon

I was hoping that the FAA style would be more readable under sunlight, as the general scheme is closer to Garmin's, but it doesn't seem to be the case.
