Has this feature been discontinued?
I cannot find any notes now, just star ratings..

No, there are pilot notes wherever I look.

Yes, there are still pilot notes, but it seems you removed 'old' entries before 04/2024.

Also, the (very) old pilot notes are sometimes so important to read and provide really good hints, especially for airports that are not visited frequently by pilots. Is there a chance to get these old entries back in SD, or perhaps in an external database/website or export file? That would be so helpful. To be honest, I'm really sad that the old notes are gone.

I can imagine that it is a lot of data for all airports, but as I said, I hope you can bring these notes back somehow. And I can imagine that some pilots are not motivated to write comments/pilot notes when they know they will be gone regularly.

We have always only shown the last 2 years of pilot notes. A lot changes in 2 years when it comes to airfields, so we made a judgement to only show that many. If we get a lot of feedback from people wanting older ones to still be shown, we'd consider changing the threshold.

Hi Tim, perhaps a better approach would be an algorithm that deletes pilot notes only for airports with a high volume of comments. This would ensure that notes for frequently visited airports stay up to date, while preserving notes for smaller airfields that only have a few. Otherwise, helpful information like phone numbers or warnings — about high handling costs in Greece, for example — might be lost.

Alternatively, would it be possible to provide a regular text-based backup of the older data? That would also be very helpful. Or is that information already gone (hopefully not)?

I realize this requires more effort on your part, but I’m surprised no other pilots have requested this yet.

All valid suggestions, but as I said, we wouldn't make changes to the way it has worked (for quite a long time) without a number of users making such suggestions.

If the SD team monitor Pilot Notes, could some be made "sticky" so they stay there forever, or a long time?
Those would be posts about operational and safety matters, rather than how good the cake is!

With respect to the Pilot's Notes feature. Whenever I enter a review and then wish to edit it straight away I find that the page breaks are shown in text. These not only increase the numerical count of letters often putting the post over the 1000 limit, but they then appear as text once the edit is saved.

I also find that returning to the page to edit a post in the few minutes after posting brings up a time barrier of posting twice in ten minutes. This often means that by the time I get back to try to edit the ability to do so has been removed. A Catch 22 situation.

PC on Windows 10 using Chrome.

See what I mean? I meant the second paragraph to refer to this forum rather than the Pilot's Notes facility but I can't edit to make that clear because of the ten minute rule!
