Hi everyone,

I've been using SkyDemon for a while and I have a question: I can't seem to find any indication of cross track error on the displays. (Yes, I have seen the HSI and it's useful, but I'm looking for the XTE.) I'm not sure if this feature exists or if I'm just missing it.

Does anyone know if SkyDemon currently shows this, and how to enable it if it does?

Thanks in advance for any help!

The HSI shows how far you are off your planned track. It sounds like you're looking for an actual numerical though, is that right? If so, we don't show that anywhere in the user interface.

Yes, exactly. I would like to get some information to calculate the crossing angle. Is this feature something that can be requested?

The HSI indicates 1nm per dot, so if you are not too far off track you can take it from there.

Perhaps when the off-track distance exceeds full scale deflection, the numerical error could be displayed in the centre of the HSI instrument with an arrow indicating direction, or off-centre on the deflected needle side.

I'm not sure this is something we've seen many people ask for in 16 years of doing this. It would be great if you could explain the situation in which you think people would find this useful.

Personally I'd have no use for it, I was merely suggesting a way the feature could be depicted if it was decided to include it.

The projected track line is more useful for deriving a heading to get back on to track at a desired point, no calculation required!

I'm an avid user of XTE in degrees on my Avidyne 440 display but would agree that so long as you've got the projected track line over your desired course in SkyDemon then there's little point in having a numerical display as well.
