Hi,

Sometimes during the flight, the virtual radar window would display this message for a few seconds before real data would be displayed again. See attached picture.
I couldn't identify yet a pattern when this occurs.
Does anyone have the same issue?

Skydemon version: 3.16.13.383
Running on an iPad 4 mini with iOS 15.8.2.

Yes, sometimes a bit more, never more than, I would say, 5 sec. (which is relatively a lot when you're trying to stay out of a class A in a dense environment).
I don't think it's related to the GPS chip, maybe something to have with compute power?

This is just SkyDemon working in exactly the way it's meant to. If you change course, we have to recompute the virtual radar which is a relatively expensive operation, so it only happens every few seconds.

Thank you.
Does that mean that with a more powerfull iPad (performance wise), this would relatively be shorter or even almost disappear?

I've been flying with an iPad 5 mini for more than 3 years and saw this effect a few weeks ago.
In fact, this effect appears to be new and worthy of investigation by the software team.

No, SkyDemon purposefully only recomputes virtual radar every five seconds by design, no matter how powerful your device is.

We could change that of course, but it doesn't seem to have been an issue. If it's an issue for you, please describe in detail the situation where the lack of instantly-updated data is a problem for you.

If the trade-off is a less accurate radar view, then clearly it's not worth it.
Now that I know why it's happening, I can work with that. It just caught me off guard the other day when I was navigating through a complexe airspace (in some situations, if you're not expecting it, it can throw you off kilter).
