For the third consecutive day I tried SD in a trip to a non ILS equipped airfield. The Glide Slope needle did not appear but the localiser needle was seen. The glide path was not seen in the profile part of the map either, on this one occasion. This phenomenon was not noted previously.
Two request for future releases: 1. A large Key board e.g. almost full screen would help (and may be essential) for making entries easier in the good old British usually turbulent weather. 2. It would be very nice if the list of (Direct To) included one empty row for the pilot to enter an airfield's name or designator that is not included in the (Direct To) list, during flight. Perhaps this airfield is not close enough to the current aircraft position for it to be listed. I recognise that digitally moving the map in flight to the destination is another possibility of entry, however, that is not always convenient during flight, for the same reasons above. If this feature is there already, (noting that there is what looks like a text box immediately beneath the Direct To title), please accept my apologies and would be obliged if someone could confirm its existence.

I believe we answered the keyboard question recently, and there is already a box in the Direct To window where you can type an alternative destination if you wish. Does this help?

It certainly does. I will try it next time I am able. Thanks Tim. Also, would you be kind enough to direct me to the group discussion where the key board issue was answered? I have just been travelling for 14 hours and could not locate it for the moment. I bet you can see the enthusiasm for SD! Many thanks again. Oh, by the way, any ideas why the glide slope needle and glide path not appearing on that occasion? It was EGCF if that helps.

Many thanks Srayne. That is what I was looking for.
I wonder if Stevelup is able to give us a time-frame for the keyboard. I feel it may not be something that just anybody can assist with.
On a second, and important note, I would not mind to hear what Bathman feels about the instrument panel. I am sure he will have his own thoughts that he can share with us, at some stage, as how to make this panel better still for the future.
I must say I am still impressed with the simplicity of changing between moving map and instrument panel, in SkyDemon.

While looking at the latest release of SD 2.1.1, that is full of all new gooddies, I felt it may be opportune to revise my wish list and paste my response from stevelup's thread ETAs to subsequent waypoints, for consideration in future SD releases. The aim is to ensure that SD will continue to be the number one choice for pilots, as it is for me now.
"The only ETAs I've seen are those to the next way-point and destination. This was discussed with Tim before and I requested (easy said than done perhaps) that a p-log is highly desirable within SD Mobile which would be updated automatically throughout the flight. Items such as waypoints, leg distances, leg fuel, magnetic tracks, ETAs and even sunrise and sunset times would be depicted in a table that the pilot can scroll through, both vertically and horizontally. The advantage of auto-updating these items in-flight is the added bonus over the static paper p-log, leaving the pilot free to focus on other things."

I wonder if Stevelup is able to give us a time-frame for the keyboard. I feel it may not be something that just anybody can assist with. I've done a new chunky keyboard and had it running in the emulator. I need a testing device from someone please - if anyone has a unit that they have already modified to the point where the WinCE desktop is accessible, and that would benefit from the larger keyboard, please drop me a PM.

Well done, That was very kind of you Stevelup. I have several units with direct WinCE access. However, I have just arrived in the Middle East, from the UK yesterday. I know sending the devise from here would be both expensive and unpredictable. I hope to be back in the UK in August. I have 5,6 & 7" screen suitable GPS devices of various makes that can be made available then.
In the Interim, can I use this venue to request forum members or guests who displayed the enthusiasm and keenness to use a large keyboard with SD, to grab this unique opportunity and consider active participation in this regard? Should they have a spare portable GPS with direct WinCE access to contact Stevelup please, with view to availing their device for him to test his new Keyboard module on. A lot of us have been waiting patiently for this to be realised. Stevelup has been kind enough to work on this module in his own personal time.
Our understanding is that the device would be sent back to the original owner once the testing is complete.
I am happy to pay both stevelup and the owner part or the total cost of a UK Royal mail return trip, by direct electronic transfer to their respective accounts, once the necessary details are forwarded to me.
(PS: Was this a first on this forum?)

I have an HP Ipaq 314, would that be a device suitable for the test although I only have the demo version on it at present as I'm waiting for a new Medion unit to arrive before buying the complete package, if the 314 is usable how long would you need it for?
Regards
Graham
