When I share a .flightplan file as an email, I can click on it in Google Mail on my Android phone/tablet and open in it SkyDemon when prompted:

If I try to share a .flightplan by hosting it on a web server, I only get the option to download as a file:

If I then try to use the 'Open' link or otherwise open the file, SkyDemon doesn't appear on the list.

What gives? Is there a Content-Type or similar metadata I can set in the server headers to get SkyDemon to open it much as when it's an email attachment?

Otherwise, is there a way to get SkyDemon to open a .flightplan once saved somewhere on my device (e.g. Download folder)?

You could try the application/skydemonflightplan mime type.

Hmmm. Well that does give me different behaviour:
Content-type: application/octet-stream brings up a Open with list (without SkyDemon listed).
Content-type: application/skydemonflightplan just goes to the browser download page.

I've had a fair fiddle with Content-disposition too, to no avail.

Think I'm going to have to call it quits for now.
