Hey Tim,
the German (HEMS) Heliports are classified in several categories.
Category 1: Elevated Heliport certified according to §6 LuftVG -> Visible in Skydemon
Category 2: Ground Heliport certified according to §6 LuftVG -> Visible in Skydemon
Category 3, 4 and 5: Public Interest Site (PIS). These are usually heliports at hospitals that have been in use for a long time, but never got officially certified. Sometimes because of laziness of the hospital operator, but usually because they dont have the required obstacle clearance to be certified according to §6 LuftVG. These heliports are a lot more common in Germany than the certified ones and in HEMS we go frequently to both. I have a databse with all Heliports in Germany, which I am able to share if you want to implement those uncertified (but important) heliports as well.
Example for a PIS / CAT3-5:
50.347966 7.592929 (elevated)
53.467815, 7.499439
53.715980, 7.171412
51.636428, 13.698331
51.503416, 14.631475
In regards to NOTAMs missing in Skydemon. It looks like its not the problem that the NOTAM isnt transmitted to Skydemon, but that it only shows if you actually go to the aerodrome that the NOTAM is for or your radius is very close to it. This problematic in the following scenario:
Berlin Steglitz Heliport is closed due to construction
In the morning I check the radius around the HEMS base on Skydemon, but no information is presented, that this very essential hospital heliport in Berlin is not available for the time being. This is critical for HEMS operation, since this is one of the most important hospitals available to me during the day.
I plan to transport a patient from one hospital to the other. Can I stop enroute at Steglitz Heliport in case the patient gets unstable? I still asume that I can.
Now I am forcing the NOTAM to show-up by flying exactly overhead Steglitz Heliport and then finally I get the information that I cant land there.
I guess the Skydemon filter doesnt want fixed wing pilots to bother about NOTAMs that only affect you if you land at an airport that you pass enroute, but especially the RADIUS around me function, should not filter out any NOTAMs within the circle.
Cheers,
eivissa
