We are working on this issue. This thread is for people who have experienced a dramatic slowdown in SkyDemon since our version 3.6.2. We will release a series of build on this thread testing a few changes until we discover what the cause is/was and find a way to work around it.
The first build is at the link below. It is our 3.6.2 version built with current tools. We expect it to have high performance, and the purpose of the build is to prove (to ourselves) that is isn't the build tools, and that it's something within the SkyDemon code over which we have control.

I have just loaded the Android beta release to my Samsung Note 4 and first impressions are that once loaded it runs OK, however I tested the logging in screen and that is as bad as it was. That is it takes for ever to type in user name and password. Also loading seems very much slower initially when compared to the 6.2 release.I have not had issues with the other apps slowing down.John
Now loaded version above and problem with login has now gone and loading is much faster.

Also now loaded on Nexus 7 and all seems good. So presumably it wasn't a problem with Android at all ?
Having both iPad and Android devices, an iPad 2, an iPad 2 Air, a nexus 7 and a Note 4 I have to say that whilst I agree the Apple devices are, in general, easier and more intuitive to use, they are not without slowing down at each release of a new OS, the ipad 2 is now nearly useless and there is no way back, There have been plenty of well documented release bugs as well, e.g. the GPS issues a few releases back, and they are about 3 times the cost of the Android devices.
Additionally they do shut down and overheat, I am sure some Android devices do as well, they suffer from glare and are not the brightest screens and there is a far greater choice available of Android devices.
So its horses for courses.
John
