Thansk,

So the red terrain is then 500 below alt. The yellow is then maybe 1000' below?
I am part of a voulantery service here in norway where we as private pilots supprort government agencies in SAR and forest fire patrol flying.
Terrain awareness is then very important, so i'd like to know the specifics.

One last question to Tim, have you considered the possibility to show the terrainsafe shading during planning? I use the simulate feature to get a "terrain picture" based on one or two planned altitudes, and grabs a screen dump for reference when doing instant planning related to a mission. Then i sort of get a safe terrain map for this altitide and one for that. Then i instantly know that if the clouds is giving me 2000 feet, that area is no go and so on.
It would be nice to punch in some reference alt in planning mode, and then have the map shaded in accordance if you understand. I also understand that this might not be something all users need....

Anywhay,

thanks,

kevin

We've done this ourselves, to help us in developing certain features. The trouble is, what altitude do you choose when enabling it in planning mode? There isn't a compelling UI solution for this, and combined with the fact not many people are looking to use the feature in such a way, means it's just not possible at the moment I'm afraid.

I understand the UI challenge.
Doing it in sim-mode does almost the same, exept i then have to sim and look, plan and draw and then sim and verify.
For my use some sort of textbox or slider where you select "planning altitude" or something, but i get the challenge and the small target argument.

Thanks anywhay for a great product.
