Lollipop is anything starting with 5, so I'm afraid your last posts have left me confused as to what version(s) you're actually running.

Hi John

Ah! Now I understand. Android 4.4.2 is KitKat (your 'new'Nexus), which causes no problems --don't upgrade whatever you do, and make sure your Nexus is NOT set for automatic updates. Android 5.0.2 is Lollipop (your 'old' Nexus), the cause of all the problems with random crashes.

You can safely upgrade to 4.4.4(I use , no problems) which I believe was the last version of KitKat. The upgrades are usually incremental so you should be offered 4.4.3 then 4.4.4

SD 3.2.1.22629
Android 5.0.2

Flew for three hours yesterday with no problems.  This "seems" to be fixed. Congratulations to all involved.

Ah yes, somebody was obviously getting fed up with being sent the error reports that occurred a few seconds after shut down.
The new beta now just comes up with " Unfortunately, skydemon has stopped  OK" :-)

We don't actually receive those reports; they're sent to Google. We can go and look at them but they are of little use to us. We can't determine why a few people are seeing a crash after shutting down SkyDemon until such time as someone with Android debugging tools is able to share log output with us.

Tim,
I can reliably get a crash by selecting "simulate" before the route and maps have had a chance to complete loading. LogCat dump attached.

Yesterday I made a 90min flight with several sharp tuning points of 90d or more. I had one single BT XGPS160 hooked up to 3 Android tablets. All running SD 3.2.1.22629. Tablet A is running 4.4.2, tablets B and C are running 5.0.2. Tablet B is Nexus7 2012 and tablet C is Nexus7 2013. Tablet A is Lenovo Yoga2 10".

Tablet A behaved very well with only one crash right after takeoff. Tablets B and C crashed multiple times during the turns, my logs are divided over 5-6 sectors, none of them showing anything but almost straight lines. On the Nexus SD is very susceptible to crashes during turns. I am running Bluetooth GPS Provider at 10Hz refresh rate. I will now bring it down to 1 Hz to see if it was overwhelming SD at 10Hz.
Running Google Tracks with the same hardware during a 45 main bike ride was absolutely steady and precise.
