Tim - for the record, I'm still experiencing random crashes, but then I'm not expecting a final fix for this problem until Google gets their finger out and releases an upgrade to Lollipop.

Still, we'd recommend people don't upgrade their Android operating system at this point..
Sage advice.

No more crashes! Brilliant well done and thank you.
Same here - even with the beta versions, I was getting crashes more and more frequently, eventually to the point where it crashed before it could even display the map. The latest version seems much, MUCH better. Thank you!

Just to illustrate the randomness of the issue, I will point out that there was no tangible change between the last beta and the public release. It's great that it's behaving better for you, but it's not down to anything we have done.

Whatever you didn't do, don't undo it. Made a four hour simulated flight, no crash.

Hi Tim
Since I started this thread with my Nexus 7 2012 on kitkat I became so concerned at losing SD function that I purchased a Nexus7 2013 with lolipop which runs SD without problems so far.
Can I request that any new SD upgrades continue to work on that combination as it seems to be one of the few that works at the moment.
Cheers
John

Hi John
For curiosity's sake, may I ask what the Lollipop version number is on your new Nexus? The reason for asking is that my Nexus is running Lollipop 5.0.2 and I'm still experiencing problems with random crashes.

Hi again
I sorry to say but I think 5.0.2 is KitKat because that's what I upgraded to on the Nexus 7 2012 that started all the problems.
Cheers John
