SkyDemon is actually rather good for IFR. Especially since it displays Class A airspace unlike Garmin Pilot. A good IFR Route Generator would be a nice feature.

I use RocketRoute and then copy/paste the route into Skydemon. You may want to tweak the RocketRoute plan after seeing where it takes you on Skydemon. Anyway, having planned a route and flying the same route doesn't always happen. Just be careful if flying direct to a waypoint named FRANK, they have one in Germany and one in the UK. Of course the Skydemon map shows the error instantly.
