I wouldnt worry too much what people reply on the other forums. There are always people who want to sound off about some old fashioned way. I get sick of listening to the jobsworths on them. Lets be honest there are still people who pretend that NDB approaches are safer than a GPS approach. I have been coming into Blackpool over the sea at 4pm in the afternoon and been 2 miles left of the centre line on an ndb approach because of all of the effects that can happen. My gps has never been off even a noticeable amount.

This feature (if you choose to add it and I hope you do) could be billed as a descent planner to aid descents from various altitudes. Whats more it could be even better and be a climb planner too with warnings when you get to a certain point or a certain height. I regularly do climbs on my autopilot but forget to stop the climb bang on the number I want. It would be great for a climb planner to warn me as I was approaching my top of climb or a descent I had chosen. Garmin 296 definately has a descent planner sort of. Imagine being able to click on a point on the map some distance from where you are currently at and say I want to be at x height at that point and the descent/climb planner pops up a little window to show you an ils type thing or at least a rate of climb/descent or perhaps the HIT's model to represent what you want to do to achieve your targets height at the position. That would be great.

I have flown in plenty of IMC and would never use something like this in anger for an approach into a field in poor weather without plenty of prior knowledge of where I was going but it would certainly be a nice backup etc.
