Hi, I have a problem with downloading the UK AIP onto my iPad. When I click to download, a brief message is displayed about a missing document, possibly EGQS Aerodrome Chart (too quick for me to read properly) and then an error message is displayed.

There was a communications error during operation "Download Plate"... The requested plate was not found. It may have recently been deleted. If this problem persists, please contact us and notify us of the plate you are trying to retrieve.

I guess my first observation is that I can't tell for sure which plate I'm trying to retrieve, as the message flashes past so quickly.

I've had this problem for several weeks, so I guess you could say that it's persisting!

Works fine for the Belgian AIP, which I just tested.

FYI this is the first time I've tried to perform a full download of AIP onto the iPad. Still works fine for individual plates.

I'm running SD iPad v3.2.0 on iOS 7.

All suggestions gratefully accepted.

We've just tried this here in the office and it seemed to work ok. What are your plate filtering settings?

Thanks. I turned everything on (IFR plates were off before) and tried again, and once again met with success. Could you retry and verify you're still experiencing a problem?
Our attempt to reproduce this confirms that the plates are all present and correct, which means that either it's a network problem preventing you from being able to download one of them, or that the problem has fixed itself with one of the offending plates being re-issued.

Still going wrong I'm afraid.

It's strange if it's a network issue, as it worked fine for Belgium, and I can download individual plates (or "all in list") without problems.

If I select all the filters off then it completes successfully (but obviously doesn't download anything). If I switch any filter on, it errors.

There's a "clear cache" option - is it worth trying that? Or reinstalling?

I don't see how that would help. You could try narrowing down which filter it is; I suspect one of the instrument ones. After that, you'd have to be eagle-eyed to spot which one it was trying to download when it failed. Something is preventing SkyDemon from being able to successfully download a particular plate, that much is for sure.

OK, I tried each filter individually and made a discovery. The "Download AIP" option will fail repeatedly on the same plate, but if you are quick you can spot the ICAO code of the offending plate. You then use "Find Plates" and search for the ICAO code. It will fail to find any plates, but if you then try the "Download AIP" option again it will skip the offending plate and progress with downloads until the next problem airfield.

It's quite a pain (especially as the error message with the plate name is only visible momentarily) but I have at least managed to download the entire UK AIP now!

Filtered docs were downloaded in the following order:
Textual Information          - Fails EGSQ EGMH EGTP
Aerodrome Charts            - OK
Other Documents            - OK
Documents Requiring Purchase   - N/A
Withdrawn Documents    - OK
Visual Approach Charts   - OK
Instrument Approach Charts    - OK
IFR Arrival Charts           - OK
IFR Departure Charts      - OK

I appreciate this is not a major issue that affects many users, but it would be a lot easier if the ICAO code were displayed in the last error message.

Thanks for your help, it's appreciated.

I agree that would be helpful. We'll see what we can do.
