Tried Inflight in flight on my Loox N560 for the first time yesterday. It all worked extremely well, hardware and software. Visibility and usability on Loox N560 was good - enhancements in 0.9.9 much appreciated! After 70 minutes use the battery was down to 75%, even with the display permanently on full brightness, which is excellent.



I'll need more time with it to be able to give more useful feedback - at the moment it seems to do most things I'd want to do.



Two small points though:



1. I thought there was supposed to be a 'take me too...' short cut. In other words if I want to forget the existing route and just go straight home. I can't see a way to do that other than planning a new route.



2. As mentioned in another thread, it would be useful to add local places/landmarks such that they are permanently displayed.



Other than that, excellent!

So far nobody has commented on the changes made in 0.9.9 as a result of discussion in this thread: i.e. for airfields, slightly larger font, bold and uppercase.

Up/Down, use the map context menu. Tap and hold over any waypoint, and the menu exposes a "Route Direct" function that discards your route and routes you straight there from the current position.

Tim, re changes to typeface etc. I did say in my previous post that the enhancements in 0.9.9 were appreciated. To be more explicit, yes, I think the readability is now much better.



I gather from posts elsewhere that text size will vary according to screen resolution and size, so you'll be trying to achieve the best compromise for all devices. The Loox is a VGA 480x640, and could probably cope with text even larger without become too cluttered. However, in my view it's now perfectly ok as it is.

A little late to this one, but just to add...



I too think the font size is better now, but how about the option to select size (small, medium, large) to cater for all 'tastes'? Also, I found today, whils trying to just skirt a MATZ that I could hardly see the CAS outlines on the InFlight display with quite bright ambient light (everything else showed up well though). Would it be possible to, again, have options for different CAS outline thicknesses (fine, normal and bold)?

I'm happy to announce that today's release (0.9.11) has an option to increase the map font size to medium or large.

Damn Tim, I've said it before and I'll say it again - you're GOOD! Great software that just gets better and better!

Any thoughts regarding the curser size/conspicuity which others have commented on?  Another product I have tried (!!) uses a neat little aeroplane symbol which points along track and shows green when GPS is good but turns red if sat info is degraded.
