Planning a multi-leg trans-European flight from UK to Croatia. When looking at the weather briefing in the print centre for each leg the briefing is not always for the currently selected leg.

I've looked at the code, and it certainly should be. Could you come up with a couple of simple steps which consistently reproduce the issue for you, with a multileg trip?

Hi Tim,

Using SkyDemon Plan (V3.2) on a PC (Windows 8.1):

1) Create a new route direct from Cambridge (EGSC) to Split (LDSP).
2) Insert a waypoint at Memmingen (EDJA) and mark it as "Land Here"
3) Select the Cambridge to Memmingen leg as the active leg and click the button bar icon to activate the "Print Centre"
4) In the Print Centre select "Weather Brief"

The displayed weather brief is entitled "Cambridge - Memmingen Weather" but the weather entries are for the whole route including Split and is displayed in a seemingly random order.

Simon

Ah, I understand what is happening. When you go to print your weather briefing, it isn't really printing a weather briefing for your route. It's printing all known TAF and METAR. We probably should change the heading on that page to reflect that. As the user you can of course obtain the weather on an ad-hoc basis from any weather station, and when you do, it ends up included in that output.

What's happening is that when you load your route, the first sector is selected and SkyDemon subscribes to all TAF and METAR near that route. When you select another sector, SkyDemon subscribes to all the TAF and METAR near that sector too. That's why the print output expands to show all stations.

One potential solution to this would be to restrict the print output to all stations within X miles of the selected sector, but then additional TAF and METAR you have subscribed to will no longer be included, which is a (minor) breaking change.

OK now I understand what's going on. What if the weather briefing print output included all stations within X miles of the selected sector plus all of the TAFs and METARs you have subscribed to whatever the sector they apply to. This would seem a logical solution.

That pretty much describes what is happening now, though Smile

I thought that what is happening now is that the sector printout can include the whole multi-sector route for all sectors even if I haven't subscribed to any additional TAFs/METARs? What I am suggesting is that the printout only includes weather for the selected sector if there are no additional subscriptions.

Edit: I've just realised that my understanding of 'subscribe to' is where I've explicitly asked for weather for one or more stations and this may differ from your interpretation. What I'd expect is for weather to be included only if near the selected sector or I have explicitly asked for an additional weather station.

BTW What is the order that they are printed in?

You're either subscribed to a weather station or not. There's no difference between explicitly subscribing and subscribing as a result of your route passing close by.
The order in which they appear appears to be very loosely the order in which they are subscribed to.

OK I think I understand your terminology and how it works a bit better now, and agree with your suggestion that the printed briefing should be limited to weather near the current sector as that was what I was expecting (it would match the printed plog, maps, w&b etc which are for the current sector only). Alternatively (at the expense of further complication) adding a new 'Weather' tab to the Print Centre 'Settings' dialog which would include the option to include all weather or just weather for the current sector.

The current situation whereby the weather you see in the printout depends on which sectors you have previously selected (and therefore subscribed to weather stations along that sector) is not very intuitive.

Please could you re-order the printed briefing into something more meaningful for the user - e.g. alphabetical?

Thanks for your patience.

Simon
