I don't know the answer but like you am interested to find out. I'm currently exploring options and here are my thoughts. The problem (?) with Android devices are they come out so regularly and there is almost too much choice!
I'm a die hard Apple fan and people suggest it runs best on the iPad. The iPad Mini 3G would be my ideal choice but outside my budget. The overheating issue affects my iPhone5 in the UK on a sunny day if I leave it on a table outside. I'd hate to think that could happen in the cockpit.
I've also yet to read what battery life is like on the iPad Mini 3G running SkyDemon - anyone know?
So I start exploring the Nexus 7 to find that people have all kinds of issues with performance (not just SkyDemon but in general with Androd 4.2). That plus the fact the second generation Nexus 7 is out at the end of the month puts me off buying the current generation.
The second generation Nexus 7 has Android 4.3 but get this ... The GPS conks out after 10 minutes or so -- I read Google are currently investigating (and will no doubt fix) this. Also reports of the touch screen missing gestures and the opposite .... Phantom touches!
Turning to ASUS I spotted the Memo Pad 7 HD, no 3G but I could probably live with that. But wait, ohhh noooo, it only comes with Android 4.2 and all the lags that brings. ASUS have no published roadmap to take it to 4.3 ....
So looks like I've gone full circle, back to the iPad Mini which I can't afford.
Can anyone sort out my scrambled head and put me back on the right track?
What I do know is I definitely want a 7" tablet.
