Today, I had a surprise, trying to use SkyDemon Web on my Mac. It works on Safari, but with Chrome I can't even type my login id. When I type the characters, there is not even an echo like it is not reading my keyboard. Really strange.
Any idea?
Thanks

I would ensure you have the latest version of the Silverlight plugin installed and that it is compatible with the browser you are using.

I did some research on this about a month ago, and there appears to be a problem with the current Silverlight on Chrome (on Mac OS X 10.8 at least). It is not specific to SkyDemon.

I also tried to run SkyDemon on Firefox and while it does run it is dead slow.

My pragmatic solution is to access web.skydemon.aero through Safari until the Chrome issue is resolved.

I encouter the same issue since the launch of the web version. The problem is that Microsoft does not support Chrome on Mac for their Silverlight product.

In my opinion Silverlight should be dropped. Why not use standards like HTML5?

Of course this means that the SD web tool should be rewritten in total. In my opinion fully webbased application are the future because it is a way to develop application fully indiependent of the device you use. And yes, applications can be used offline...

I strongly support this motion.

I just registered for the trial account today, and am blown away by the functionality and useability of both the Windows native and Android versions. I will definitely become a regular customer as soon as my current tool subscription runs out in March.

But as I'm only using Linux PCs at home, trying out the Web version was somewhat anticlimatic:
1. I also have that Chrome issue apparently, tried out a couple of things but either it's a general problem with the Silverlight-analouge I'm using or with the specific version of Chrome as the previous posters describe - no joy.
2. Why chose Silverlight as a platform for a web app in the first place? If I want to be tied into Windows/MS technology, I write a normal fat-client application, and SkyDemon already has that. A web app should be running on any platform, which means HTML5 these days.

Keeping my fingers crossed on this one - would make a great product perfect, for me at least.

Eventually Silverlight will be end of life soon. The last release was in 2011. Any developers investing in Silverlight or Flash of that matter choose a road with a dead end.

What I've heard is that it is quite easy to convert a Windows based application into a silverlight Webapplication. This could well be the reason why the Sky Demon team chose for this path. Eventually they started out their application on the Windows platform and this was only available when I subscribed (in 2010).

I hope they would invest in a HTML5 version.

But than again, this is only my two cents...

HTML5 is a fantastic solution for lots of things, but not for creating a complex application like SkyDemon.

It is completely impossible and won't ever happen.
