I have reinstalled on a new computer as my old laptop has decided not to boot. On that system I had added aircraft data, but not exported it. I have a backup of the filesystem, but can't find the aircraft data on it anywhere. Is it easily accessible so that I can import it into my new install? (I notice the User waypoints are there in xml format).

The settings file, which include aircraft data, is located at the following location on Vista/7 operating systems:

C:\Users\[Name]\appdata\roaming\Divelements Limited\SkyDemon Plan

And on XP?

In a similar folder under C:\Documents and Settings\[Name]\Application Data\.

On my setup it was documents and settingsame\my documents\skydemon



I copied everything in my documents folder to my new laptop, installed skydemon, it seems to find the custom data & license file ok but not the air data or aircraft info files? Why is this?

That folder is where settings are stored, which up until the forthcoming 2.0 release included aircraft definitions.

All chart, terrain and custom data, routes and logs are stored within your personal Documents folder, and beginning in SkyDemon 2.0 this is where aircraft definitions are stored too.

What version of SkyDemon was used to produce the settings file you are attempting to restore, and what version are you using now that you hope will read the settings file?

The version of SD on the old & new laptop are the same: 1.4.4.26597

I moved the whole of my documents file from the old to the 'new' laptop. Both run windowsXP. I noticed that on the path at the top of the explorer window it shows: documents and settingsewuser\mydocuments\skydemon even tho' I changed 'new user' to 'my name', as on the previous laptop. It does show my name when I go back up the path to show the folders 'guest' 'my name' etc



Also I tried coping the files back to the old laptop to see if it would work- it did. I guess this is another windows gremlin!
