Have you tried loading the different chart styles available in SD? Also when planning on PC you can have the virtual radr window open that gives vertical nav (obstacles etc) - I agree its not absolute laterally but it gives you the vertical alerts that you ned (IMHO).

Also have you got all the terrain features turned on? - roads, railways etc

Don't get me wrong.. They are not inaccurate..
I just miss the layout from the paper charts.. (much more details and info)
Sometimes when I plan a route I want more details and sometimes I don't..
I just wish that I could use the ICAO chart in SkyDemon since it's more
detailed...
That would make the program even more PERFECT !!!!!
Add a 3D view with visible obstacles for navigation and we're home... BigGrin

...The only thing i wish for is more accurate charts. Like the 250000 or 500000 charts that we have on paper...
Hopefully we get to see that someday.. Then it would be the ultimate product!...

Can you tell us what the chart inaccuracies were that you noticed?

Thanks, -- Chris.

I have been using Sky Demon all the way through my PPL studies.

All the cross country flying was a piece of cake as my teacher would
let me have the iPad with me all the time. (off course just as a compliment to the charts)

I used all the features like W&B, fuel, Track and time calculations and printed them all.
That saved me a whole lot of time.
Filed all the flight plans with SkyDemon as well.
It costs money to file flight plans with the program but it's well worth the money because it's sooooo easy.

I would never fly anywhere without it now.

I have two iPads with me. One mounted on the right side yoke and one inside my knee board.
I also bought the SkyDemon GPS, but I haven't found it that useful. It feels a bit crappy and cheap
and it's not even close to the iPad when it comes to easy navigating ..

I am totally addicted to this product....

The only thing i wish for is more accurate charts. Like the 250000 or 500000 charts that we have on paper...
Hopefully we get to see that someday.. Then it would be the ultimate product!!

(EDIT. Didn't see that the post was about the XGPS150... Sorry about that.. )

Hello,

I am new to flying and half way through my PPL. I love gadgets so once I get my PPL I am sure to use SkyDemon on my iPad as well as my paper charts.

So far, I've been using SkyDemon Navigation with MS Flight Simulator just to see how it would work in the air and I'm really impressed! I have a Wifi-only iPad so I really need to buy an external GPS unit for when I'm in the air. I was thinking about the Dual XGPS150 which seems to be well rated online.

I'd love to hear about any positivie or negative comments about the XGPS150 from other SkyDemon users!

Cheers
James
