There is a set speed at which each recevier is designed to transmit at so upping the speed wont always make it better.

I have set mine to 4800 but 9600 also works. I dont think you need any higher since the amount of data received from the gps is not that great.

Having got vers 1.3 running on my gps and starting to tune the settings I found that the auto mircosoft gps option was greyed out. The COM port was found easily enough by trial and error but I would vakue any advice concerning Baud rates. I haven't got a clue what a baud rate is and fear my natural tendency to think bigger is better, which has failed me on a number of occasions in the field of Cakes and Desserts..amongst others, may fail me again.

Available settings include 4800..9600..19200..38400..57600.

Now I've tried all of them and settled on ..you guessed it 57600 (todate nothing has exploded) ; but was disturbed to read in your explanatory notes suggesting 9600.

Any help greatfully received,

TIM
