I have been using skydemon on my iPad-3 for the past 4 weeks.
Fantastic software and very easy to use in flight.

My question is - while checking flight logs after flying I notice that sometimes log for 1 flight is split into 2 or 3 stages and not 1 continuous log,

I think the reason for this is iPad losing GPS signal.

Has anyone else noticed this and if so do I need to connect a second GPS unit to iPad to aid signal?

I have iPad on knee-board,
Aircraft is Zenair 601 all metal airframe with large bubble canopy.

I find the same thing with my iPad 3 mounted on the yoke in an AA5 . However, I've found these momentary dropouts to be a feature of every portable gps I've ever used including separates, and the iPad is better than most in this regard. Even my panel mount Garmin has been known to lose lock. I suspect it's just something one lives with. It's still quite possible to work out take off and landing times from the two or more logs, and any confusion can quickly be resolved by looking at the breadcrumbs of the relevant log

I use a Dual XGPS150A and do not experience loss of lock during fligth.

I have just fitted dual XGPS150E with ipad and went for 1.5 hr flight tonight and did not drop gps.

GNS 5870 MFI external GPS and also no problems, + perfect signal even when you pass the iPad to a rear pax
