Hello fellow aviators.

I've been flying with SkyDemon for years now and there's nothing close to it. I also fly in Microsoft Flight Simulator when the weather is poor or I can't get out to the airfield. For years now I've wanted a neat solution for connecting MSFS to SkyDemon, including traffic reports etc.
After waiting for long enough, I decided to write my own.

I hope it's ok to advertise this here, please let me know if not, but I'd like to share my solution with as many SkyDemon virtual aviators as possible.

Please allow me to introduce you to MSFS SkyDemon Link: MSFS SkyDemon Link

This application will allow you to connect to SkyDemon running on the same PC as your simulator, OR any other device on your local network. This evening I've been flying along the French Pyrenees using my iPad on my kneeboard. This is the first time I've been able to really tinker with the buttons on the iPad version of SkyDemon while on an actual flight (albeit simulated) and even after 5+ years of using SkyDemon in a real aircraft, I already feel like I've learned a lot. The 'simulate' mode of SkyDemon is good, but nothing beats the purpose of a real or virtual flight, to add context to using the app.

I've used Itch.io to host the app so that you can download it for free, or donate to me if you're feeling generous. I wrote this application to solve a frustration, not make money, but as an impoverished microlight pilot I certainly won't turn down a donation! haha.

Wishing you all blue skies and soft landings

Guy

Thanks for your efforts Guy. Your program works well and I particularly like the search facility to find the relevant device using SD.

However, there have been a number of programs available to do this for over ten years now. Colin Martin issued 'FSX2SkyDemon in 2015 and more recently 'Flight Sim to Foreflight' (FS2FF achieves the same result.

The common factor to all is to know the IP address of the device using SkyDemon. Insert that into the settings and you can connect seamlessly.

Hello Boeingboy! Thanks for replying.

I wasn't aware of the FSX2SkyDemon from 2015, but in my recent searches I couldn't find anything, same goes for FS2FF, although admittedly until I worked on my MSFS SkyDemon Link I wasn't even aware SkyDemon used the Fore Flight schema, haha.

Do those apps also broadcast traffic? I managed to hack together a solution for MSFS 2024 using a combination of applications, but could never get traffic displaying. I think the next challenge will be to pass weather information over to SkyDemon, not sure it's possible, but worth a go.

Anyhow, not to worry. I wrote this to solve my problem and create something that I wanted to use. Part of that problem I suppose was, not being able to find the applications you mentioned above Smile I hope it helps someone else, and thanks to any and all who download it.
