The latest edition of Flyer has a good review of SkyDemon and states that switching between chart and instrument view is just by a finger swipe. When I do this in chart view, the map redraws - how do I use this function?

You need to have the virtual radar switched on. Then touch the virtual radar window and swipe it towards the top of the screen. Without virtual radar switched on then swiping on the map just causes a map pan.



When in the instrument view swipe downwards anywhere on the screen to return to the map view.



BTW swiping to the right on the virtual radar window is a short cut to the "Direct to" function.
