Quite a few of us are experiencing flaky Garmin exports (at least 2 flying colleagues have asked about this in last 2 days). Made my PC hang completely today and only way was to turn off at mains.

Seems that if you use the same route name as the filename of the fpl, then it mostly works but using the XXXX-XXXX-date format can result in screen going grey and machine hanging.

I have since updated my 496 to latest firmware and installed latest USB drivers and taken Garmin advice not connect via a hub but directly to USB bus at rear of PC. May be working better  .. will have to test some more.

But, since you introduced the ability to rename the route, have you changed anything else to do with exporting to Garmin?

Any comments and experience from the SD team and fom other Garmin users wd be much appreciated.

If you use Memory Map ? its dead easy, plan your route with Sky Demon, then save it onto your desktop

it will save as in the MM format, which can either be re opened in MM or exported into your Garmin 496/296

Thats as may be. But it should work directly with Garmin and it used to work flawlessly. Now it seems to ahve become flaky. Am wondering why and wd  like a proper fix rather than a workaround.

We've never significantly changed the way we do direct Garmin exports. If you believe a previous version of SkyDemon did it better we can send you that version so that you can test whether that's the case or if something about your PC environment has changed.
