Just got back from a great 4 day trip (Yorkshire to Lands End & back via S Coast & Welsh Borders. Thought some feedback might be useful  ... main mobile device was a Navsgo7100.

  1. Confirmed, as if I didn't already know it, just how excellent SD is. Apart from main things such as getting a route onto device etc, wx, NOTAMs etc all worked flawlessly.
  2. Virtual radar was in almost constant use.
  3. Navsgo screen perfectly readable at all times.
  4. But it can be very slow to redraw which can be painful. Also plane can get very close to edge of screen before a "redraw". Wd prefer this to be better.
  5. Its quite hard in flight to "scroll" the screen using finger nail  .. suspect this is a feature of the Navsgo. Its still got original shop screen protector on  .. I will remove for a more professional one & see if this improves. I should say this is a substantial drawback as "inserting new waypoint" using click & hold also does not work easily either; similarly for info menu re an airfield.
  6. Airfield plates are difficult to read still  .. runway markings too small at default zoom are almost impossible to read. Alos RT frquencies can be "squashed" into a small box and are then unreadable too  .. see below for suggestion re this.

Suggestions, queries & ideas

  • Pl can the screen redraw more frequently  .. not just if turn by 15 degrees. Say when plane is 1/3 up the screen in track up orientation.
  • Would it be possible to add "show radio frequency" to the black menu if ones holds and clicks anywhere on screen or on an airfield? I know I should have a PLOG  .. but if you deviate from course, then some are missing. As said above, the radio frequencies are not always easily readable and depend on length of text in other boxes. I realise that if there is a MATZ or ATZ, then this is available but not fro unregistered airfields (or even Custom data).
  • Pl can you increase font size of runway markings in the plate so we can read at default zoom?

Some thoughts but overall a joy to use.

David

Pinkleader, I wonder how Navsgo7100 performance compared with the 5 inch GPS with the attached metal base, recently tried. The reason for asking is that the latter seemed to have a very fast processor and a relatively sensitive GPS aerial, which made satellite acquisition and redrawing that much faster.

Very Newbytheway
