A small user interface nibble:

Last, to my surprise I was unable to show the scratch pad by swiping from right to left in the profile view.

I discovered why: the airfield box had popped up into view, and this means appearantly that the swipe area shifts to the left. (Habitual swiping from right border of iPad to the left doesn’t work anymore)
