Hello All,

I'm not sure how good is the satellite fix with the SkyDemon Mobile (or Third Party devices) when inside the cockpit.

The aircraft I fly is fitted with an external GPS aerial with a BNC connector in the instrument panel.

Does anyone know how to connect the SkyDemon Mobile (or Third Party device) to a BNC connector in order to get a better signal from the external aerial?

I have seen battery powered re-radiating aerials but I prefer a wired connection to the GPS device via the BNC if this can be done.

Thanks for any tips.

Regards,
Mark

Hi

First you need a device that will connect to an external antenna. For example Navigon 8410 has such a connection but most WinCE (esp if cheapos from China) do not have a connection. Once you have that BNC shd be feasible. There are bluetooth GPS antennae but again u need a BT driver in WinCE  .. don't know if thats possible. But if you use a full windows netbook with BT then wd work.

HOWEVER  .. my experience (navigon 8410, Aware 4.3", cheapo 7" chinese & Navsgo 7100) is that they all work fine with their internal GPS antenna. Suggest u try it first before going to pain of external antenna. Also untick "precise fix" box.

Cheers

On my cheapo Chinese device, it manages to get an accurate GPS signal inside my house. I imagine it should be just fine in an aircraft if it can manage that.

Thanks.

Which "cheapo Chinese device" are you using?
