Ah - that explains it - I'll go and have a play.

Thanks

Just to be a bit more specific.

  1. You can toggle the line so that it either shows distance or time. There is a setting somehwere.
  2. Just tapping (or double tapping) does not do it. Have to hold your finger down until the black box of options appears. What appears depends on where you tap+hold.

Thanks pinkleader - I do have the little line ahead, but I don't so much want time as distance (although now I know time I could calculate that I suppose).

I did try tapping on the airspace I wanted but it didn't seem to do anything and doubletapping just seemed to get the map to draw further in - I'll try it again next weekend though...

Have you turned on the small line ahead of the plane? This gives 2, 5 & 10 mins ahead. Or u can set to distance. .. Not sure of gradations as I use time. May do what u r looking for.

Also if you tap & hold down at any point on map, a window comes up with the type of options u mention.

Give it a try on ground & see if it's what u want.

I used our new SkyDemon Mobile SD (and Plan) in anger for the first time this weekend for a trip from Jersey to Wolverhampton and back this weekend.

The planning was great using the v2 preview software, and I even used it to send in the flightplan. Very impressed.

The SD device was also excellent. I found the map view really intuitive and the virtual radar great. I have a 530 in the panel which is great for IFR flight and previously used a combination of that, a 296 and maps for VFR, but in terms of situational awareness in 3D with controlled airspace the SD was in a different league.

As this was the first time I used it there may be some things that I can do but didn't know how to do, but a couple of things that would have made it even better would be:

- A scale displayed somewhere (so as I zoom in and out I get an idea of the scale in terms of the map I'm looking at). Something as simple as the way the Garmin x30 does it where it simply says say 25nm to say the top of the screen to the bottom is 25nm would be great

- The ability to touch nearby controlled airspace on the map and get it to display information about the airspace and who to contact about it.

All in all a great device and software though!
