If I had a device permanently installed in a shared aircraft, everyone could update NOTAM's and MET whilst on the ground via WIFI, but that wouldn't update the maps. Taking an SD card out, taking it home, updating maps and bringing it back would be a pain for a shared aircraft.



Is the answer to / is it easy to add an 'update maps' button to the mobile version?

That's certainly a possibility, but not something that's on our radar at the moment. I think for the time being it remains a rare case that people would want to have a completely standalone Mobile installation, but as always we'll keep an eye out.
