Yep almost identical the one I was suggesting (and use) is 5" compared to 4.3".



Having used both bigger is definitely better.

Thanks for your reply Bathman. That is essentially what John was pointing to in his post. It looks like it could be the way to go.

I would still be interested in finding some car software to run on Tim's unit though as I think that it might have a better screen resolution for flying.

Effectively it is a 5" AWARE type sat nav. Of the half dozen or so no brand chinese sat nav I have seen this is in my opinion the best.



It is also possible with a little DIY soldering to upgrade the battery allowing two and a half hours running time between charges.



I have modded mine so when I ask it to run GPS software it goes to a second menu which allows me to select memory map, Igo or Skydemon.

Try one of these, it comes with the sat nav software installed for your country.  Same as the AWARE NATS unit.

It does also run SkyDemon but not as well as a pukka SD unit, l don't want to talk you out of a sale, Tim won't be happy.  Delivery takes 10 days.

Buy it for t'misses, she is happy, you are happy..... with your new SD unit.

Hi everyone,

Slightly off topic but in order to convince my financial controller (wife) that the SD unit is a great idea I need to show that it will work in the car with some navigation software like Tom Tom.

Does anyone know if that is possible on the SD unit?
